Several Mashpee High School track athletes placed well at the annual South Shore League championship meet, at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston last weekend. Leading the way was AJ Govoni, who earned two top-10 finishes.

Willie Baker, a junior who just began competing in track this season, placed fourth in the high jump. Baker cleared 5 feet, 2 inches on his top effort.

Rounding out the boys’ highlights was junior Gabe Palhais in the 600m race. The soccer and track athlete was sixth in the league with a time of 1:34.

Alexa Garcia was the top performer for the girls’ team with a fifth-place finish. She ran the 300m race in 46.92 seconds to earn that spot. Tassia McGrail was sixth in the 1,000m race in 3:54, and Alinna Hannah finished seventh in the hurdles in 10.6-seconds.
