Looking for a chance to show off skill in the growing sport of spikeball? Want a chance to try a hand at this backyard sport? Then head to South Cape Beach on Thursday, August 8, at 5 PM in Mashpee for the first annual Cape Cod Spikeball Tournament, called the Act For Well-Being.

Put on by the Mashpee Recreation Department and Cecelia Piermattei, the tournament welcomes people, ages 10 to 29, to come together to strengthen the well-being of individual and community health.

“The health of a community starts with the individual, who then affects the well-being of the people surrounding them and their communities,” Ms. Piermattei wrote in an email.

Registration is free and contestants have the opportunity to compete with friends, perhaps make new ones and earn some cool prizes along the way—all while having fun.

“By encouraging physical activity any expressions of gratitude for our natural surroundings, I hope to inspire people to make further efforts in attaining the best quality of life,” Ms. Piermattei wrote.

Anyone interested should head to www.mashpeerec.com and follow these prompts: Register > Programs > Special Events > Spikeball Tournament. Or go to Instagram and follow @CapeCodSpikeball and click the link in its bio.
