A man was hurt in an early-morning car crash and was flown to the Rhode Island Hospital trauma center, Mashpee Fire Lieutenant Sean Willis said.
The accident occurred Sunday, February 21, at 1:45 on Great Neck Road North.
The lieutenant said the driver hit a guard rail and telephone pole. He was ejected from the vehicle and sustained significant injuries. He was conscious when emergency crews arrived, Lt. Willis said.
The driver has been identified as Dustyn K. Lifgren, 27, of East Falmouth. Mr. Lifgren was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, possession of an electric stun gun, possession of a Class E drug and speeding.
Mashpee Police Chief Scott Carline said Mr. Lifgren was driving north when he lost control of the vehicle.
The crash temporarily closed Great Neck Road North at Lowell Road while utility crews replaced the telephone pole.
Mashpee police and the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction Team are investigating the crash.
