State Senator Julian Cyr (D-Truro) on Tuesday, April 14, endorsed Susan L. Moran of Falmouth for the Plymouth & Barnstable District seat up for grabs in the May 19 special election.

Ms. Moran, a Democrat, is running against Republican James R. (Jay) McMahon III of Bourne, for the seat left vacant by Viriato (Vinny) deMacedo (R-Plymouth), who stepped down to take a position at Bridgewater State University in October.

Ms. Moran currently serves on the Falmouth Board of Selectmen and is Falmouth’s representative on the Barnstable County Assembly of Delegates.

“Susan Moran will be a phenomenal partner in the Massachusetts Senate,” Sen. Cyr said. “Susan has already tackled big issues facing our region, among them solutions for water quality, economic development, housing, transportation and climate change. Her expertise and seasoned experience will be an asset for the residents of the Plymouth & Barnstable District and the broader region.”

The Plymouth & Barnstable District encompasses the towns of Bourne, Falmouth and Sandwich in Barnstable County and the towns of Kingston, Pembroke and Plymouth in Plymouth County.
