A trick-or-treating event that has become an annual event in Sandwich will continue this year despite COVID-19.

The Sandwich Police Department still plans to hold its annual Trunk-or-Treat event on Saturday, October 31, from 10 AM to 1 PM. Similar to last year’s event, this year’s will again be held at Oak Crest Cove on Quaker Meetinghouse Road.

This year will be a no-contact event, with the first 750 children receiving a bag full of goodies.

Families will also be expected to stay in their cars as they drive through. New this year is a holiday-themed car decorating contest. Families will be asked to judge the decorations.

Local organizations, businesses and families are being invited to enter a decorated vehicle in the contest.

All interested decorators must preregister their vehicles.

Registration forms can be found at www.sandwichrec.com or at the Sandwich Police Department or Sandwich Recreation Department and must be submitted by Monday, October 20.

Vehicles must arrive at Oak Crest Cove by 9 AM on the day of the event and stay the entire duration.

The winners will receive the annual Sandwich Police Trunk-or-Treat plaque.
