A 35-year-old Sandwich man was summoned to court after letting his 10-year-old daughter drive his car, which crashed into a neighbor’s home.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Clement and Lentell streets on November 3 at 10:37 PM when, according to police, the man let his daughter operate the family vehicle in their residential neighborhood near the American Legion Hall.

The neighbor was watching television when and heard a loud crash caused when the vehicle struck the house. The vehicle did not drive through the house, but it caused a considerable amount of damage to the residence, and to the vehicle, police said.

There were no injuries and the man was charged with permitting unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and reckless endangerment to a child under 18.
