A donation of bananas to the Sandwich school district’s Savor the Summer program was accepted this week.

Hometown Juice & Co., which is located in Sandwich, donated $130 worth of the fruit to the program, which provides students in town with food over the summer. The program gives those who may not have the resources to eat nutritious foods outside the school day a weeklong supply of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as canned and boxed foods.

The program also provides the students with a book and an activity to keep them busy over the summer.

The donation was presented to the Sandwich School Committee on Wednesday, August 21. The board unanimously accepted it.
