Cottages At Oak Crest Cove

A volunteer worker paints one of the cabins at the town’s Oakcrest Cove property in this file photograph. Three of the cabins were vandalised recently.

Several cabins at Oakcrest Cove were vandalized in the past week, police said.

Police were called to the town-owned camp just off Quaker Meetinghouse Road at 11:58 AM on Monday, April 12, when the damage was reported. An employee stated that the cabins had been broken into twice between April 8 and 12.

In total, three cabins and one lamppost were damaged.

Police said the windowpanes of the cabins had been smashed. Entry had been gained into at least one cabin through a window, though no damage was done inside of the cabin.

The lamppost had been broken off at its base and dumped in the area of the basketball courts, police said.

Police said that surveillance cameras in the area showed two teenage boys walking with the lamppost toward the courts, where they met three more teenagers.

No suspects have been identified.
