A counterfeit $100 bill was found by an employee at the Coca-Cola bottling plant in Sandwich while processing a payment on Tuesday.

Police were called to the Route 130 location at 2:08 PM when the office manager reported finding the bill. They told police that the bill came from a payment made by the Onset Market following a soda delivery last Friday, July 12. The bill was found while a clerk was counting the eight $100 bills that were used for the payment.

Police were able to contact the owner of the market, who said that they had paid the delivery truck driver using money from their cash drawer and had not realized that one of the bills was fake. The owner said that the market had recently been busy with customers who paid in cash and they did not know who may have passed the bill.

The counterfeit bill was described as being smaller than a real bill and had Chinese lettering in the design of the bill.

There are no suspects at this time.
