A Water Street car crash led to the drunk driving arrest of a Sandwich woman on Saturday, November 7, police said.

Police responded to the reported crash at 7:57 PM. Upon arrival, the driver was identified as Bryana N. Bellacqua, 35, of Sandwich. She was not injured in the crash, police said.

Ms. Bellacqua said that she had been texting her mother and that the next thing she knew, she had crashed into a tree. Police said that she also admitted that she had been drinking alcohol prior to the crash.

She was given a series of field sobriety tests, which she failed, police said.

Ms. Bellacqua was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, use of an electronic device while operating a motor vehicle, and a marked lanes violation.
