Police will be summoning an East Sandwich man to court on drug distribution charges after a teenage girl was found under the influence of marijuana by her mother on Sunday, September 1.

Police were called to a John Ewer Road home at 3:39 PM when a woman reported that her daughter was behaving strangely and she suspected that drugs may have been involved. When police arrived, the woman was in the driveway with her daughter, who was unsteady on her feet and laughing.

Police had the girl sit on the ground for her own safety and said that she was initially unable to respond to their questions.

The girl’s mother showed police a plastic bag that contained a lighter, a marijuana grinder, a rolled joint, and a small amount of marijuana and told police that she wanted the bag out of her house. Police took the bag as evidence.

Police asked the girl where she got the marijuana from and she told them that she did not want to get the person in trouble. She eventually gave police the name of a 24-year-old East Sandwich man and said that she had been communicating with the man using the social media platform Snapchat.

The girl was taken to Cape Cod Hospital where it was determined that the only drug in her system was marijuana.

As a result of the incident, the man will be summoned to court on charges of distribution of a Class D substance and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
