An East Sandwich man is facing charges after police say he was driving drunk Monday night, November 18.

An officer patrolling in the area of the Sandwich Taverna saw a car in the parking lot that was parked straddling the white parking lines. The officer reported seeing the driver of the car pull out of the parking lot and turn onto Cotuit Road.

When the vehicle started to drive past the speed limit, the officer stopped the car.

The driver of the car was identified as Gregory M. Fournier, 37, of East Sandwich. While talking with Mr. Fournier, the officer began to suspect that he was under the influence of alcohol. He was given a series of field sobriety tests, which he failed, police said.

Mr. Fournier was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor and speeding.
