Fire damaged a home on Quaker Meetinghouse Road Tuesday night, September 3.

The Sandwich Fire Department was called to the 165 Quaker Meetinghouse Road address at 6:57 PM. The department said that the house was unoccupied when the report of the fire came from a neighbor.

Firefighters said the two-and-a-half story saltbox home had smoke and fire showing from behind the house.

The blaze was extinguished in about half an hour.

Firefighters from Bourne, Mashpee, and Cotuit assisted Sandwich at the scene. During the fire, members of the Joint Base Cape Cod, West Barnstable and Bourne Fire Departments provided station coverage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
