The town has set a date for the auctioning off of the former Forestdale Fire Station on Route 130.
The auction is scheduled for Friday, August 28 on the site of the station.
The town has not used the building since the new public safety complex was completed at the corner of Quaker Meetinghouse and Cotuit roads. When the town pitched the new complex to Town Meeting, officials told votes the plan would be to sell the old station.
The fire station is a 2,800-square-feet, single-story masonry building on just under an acre of land. It features four overhead doors, an office, kitchen area, bunk room, and one full bathroom. It also has a sophisticated exhaust system and is equipped with a generator.
The property is in the Business Limited 1 district and allows for a wide range of uses such as restaurant, retail, medical and professional offices.
The property has 150 feet of frontage along Route 130.
Those interested in seeing the building can visit during two open houses. The first is Saturday, August 22, from 11 AM until 1 PM. The other is the day of the sale, also from 11 AM to 1 PM.
The auction registration will be the day of the sale, from 11:30 AM to 1 PM.
A $20,000 deposit is required and a successful sale is required to close within 45 days.
