The cast and crew of Sandwich High School’s Knights Theater Company will debut their film production, “Let’s Go to the Movies,” next week.

“Let’s Go to the Movies” is a compilation of scenes from films and television series. Under the guidance of director Kevin Lasit, the students submitted the scenes they wanted to produce and have spent much of the fall working on their pieces.

The theater company typically performs on stage, so learning how to perform on film was a new challenge for the 44 students who participated.

Due to the pandemic, stage options were very limited. Mr. Lasit, who has a background in film, took the opportunity to teach the young actors some new skills and techniques.

The project combined the acting program with learning how to use a camera and edit films.

The works that students selected included “The Breakfast Club,” To Kill a Mockingbird,” “The Office,” “Friends,” and “Stranger Things,” among others.

The cast and crew are planning to have a private red carpet debut of the film on Thursday, January 7, followed by its public release the next day. The film will be free to view. That link will be made available the same day.
