A Sandwich man was charged with disturbing the peace after allegedly playing loud music and shouting profanities last Wednesday, May 22.
Police were initially called to a Lentell Street address at 9 PM after a report that someone at the home had lit a bonfire without a permit. They spoke to the man, identified as Kevin S. Christensen, 41, and instructed him to put the fire out. They were called back to assist the fire department in dousing the fire around 10 PM when a neighbor reported that Mr. Christensen had reignited the fire and was playing loud music.
During this visit, police said Mr. Christensen began acting disorderly and was verbally aggressive toward the police and firefighters. Eventually he agreed to put the fire out.
A few minutes after leaving the residence, police were called back to the home when a neighbor reported that Mr. Christensen was playing loud music and shouting profanities. Police parked their cruiser a short distance away from the home and confirmed that the music and profanities were occurring.
When police approached the house, Mr. Christensen took a defensive posture and began swearing at officers.
Police were able to arrest him without further incident. He was charged with disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace.
