A Sandwich man is accused of drunk driving after crashing his car into a utility pole Saturday, July 20.
Police were called to the scene of the crash on Route 130 at 11:52 PM, near the Speedway gas station.
When police arrived, they spoke with the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Jacob Starck, 22, of Sandwich. Police said that Mr. Starck had some cuts on his body, which he said were from work.
Police said they could smell alcohol and that Mr. Starck had glassy and bloodshot eyes. He was given a series of field sobriety tests, which he failed, police said.
During the investigation, police reported finding a bottle of whiskey in Mr. Starck’s pocket.
He was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor, possessing an open container of alcohol, and a marked lanes violation.
