A Yarmouth man is facing multiple charges after he crashed his car into a Liberty Street home on Friday, January 24.
Police received a 911 call at 12:24 AM from the homeowner who reported hearing a loud bang outside their home. They looked outside to find that a car had crashed into the lower floor of their house.
When police arrived, they found a 2014 Ford Fusion had driven through a fence, dropped about eight feet, and crashed into the home.
The operator was identified as a 60-year-old Yarmouth man. He was taken by ambulance to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.
While in the ambulance, officers who went with him detected the odor of alcohol.
As a result of the crash, the man will be summoned to court on charges of operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failure to wear a seat belt, and a marked lanes violation.
Despite the fact that the house sustained heavy damage, it has been deemed structurally sound, police said.
