A Woburn man was flown to a Rhode Island hospital after an early-morning crash on Route 130 in Sandwich on Wednesday, November 18.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene of the crash at 12:01 AM after receiving multiple 911 calls that a Ryder truck had struck a utility pole.

When police arrived they found the driver, a 32-year-old Woburn man, had suffered a head injury. Police said the man had not been wearing a seatbelt and had hit his head on the windshield of the truck. He told police he was unable to move.

Police said the crash occurred when the truck rear-ended a car driven by Colton Arthur, 20, of Sandwich while he was turning onto Grand Oak Road, and then crashed into the pole.

A MedFlight was called for him and he was taken to Rhode Island Hospital.

As a result of the crash, the Woburn man will be summonsed to court on charges of a marked lanes violation, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
