An accident at the Sandwich Marina the day after Independence Day left a Marion man with a severe facial injury.

Police and paramedics were called to Freezer Road at 12:05 PM on Friday, July 5 for a report of an injured man.

Police said that the 54-year-old man had been working on a boat winch when the apparatus suddenly spun back, striking him in the face. The man suffered a severe laceration to his face.

He was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Plymouth by Bourne paramedics and OSHA was notified about the incident.
