Road repairs around town will continue next week, which will result in some temporary road closures.
Three roads are scheduled to be repaved starting on Wednesday, August 28, and concluding on Friday, August 30, at the latest.
Engineering technician Sean Harrington said that the top course will be added to Chestnut Lane and Crowell Road on Wednesday. Crowell Road will continue to be worked on the next day, along with Buckingham Drive. If necessary, work on Buckingham Drive will continue Friday.
“The roads will be closed while the work is ongoing,” Mr. Harrington said. “Full access will be restored at the end of each work day.”
He asked that residents should use side streets during those days, so that they can still reach the homes in the area.
The work is being contracted by P.J. Keating.
The money for the paving projects was made available through a $6 million debt exclusion that was approved by Sandwich voters for road repairs at the 2018 May Town Meeting.
Using the money approved, the public works department will be taking on about 30 road projects over the next few years. This work includes repaving, installation of new drainage systems, installation of curbs, and chip sealing.
