A mother and son were reunited after the mother accidentally left the boy on the side of the road at the intersection of Route 130 and Service Road.

Police said the mother and her 12-year-old son were driving home from the grocery store on Saturday just after 6 PM when she accidentally released the trunk hatch, sending their groceries tumbling into the roadway.

They both got out of the vehicle to retrieve the groceries, but the mother told the boy to return to the car.

Once the mother had loaded the items back into the car, she got in and drove away. It was not until she returned home that she realized that the boy was not with her.

Police said that another person had found the boy and called 911 to report this at the same time that the mother called 911 to report that he was not with her.

The mother and son were reunited.
