A Sagamore Beach man was flown to an off-Cape hospital after he was forced off the road in Sandwich by an unknown vehicle on Mother’s Day, police said.

Police and paramedics responded to the scene of the crash on Tupper Road at 4:38 PM on Sunday, May 10.

Upon arrival police found the motorcycle operator was seriously injured, but conscious and able to speak with first responders. The motorcyclist was identified as Christian Carven, 50, of Sagamore Beach.

Police said Mr. Carven told them that he had been traveling along Tupper Road when a vehicle crossed the center line into his lane, causing him to swerve in an attempt to avoid a head-on collision. When he swerved, he went off the road and landed in a ditch.

While the extent of Mr. Carven’s injuries were not available, police said that they were serious and he was taken by ambulance to the former Henry T. Wing School, from which he was flown by MedFlight to an off-Cape hospital.
