A Forestdale resident contacted police on Tuesday, October 29, to report a possible scam attempt involving a photo-sharing internet app.

Police were contacted at 8:36 PM by an Anchor Drive man who said he had been exchanging nude pictures with a woman using the app. After the photos were exchanged, the man received a message from someone who claimed to be the woman’s father, saying that the woman was actually underage and had been hospitalized.

The man claiming to be the father told the Forestdale man that he needed to send money to pay for her hospital premium and that if he did not send the money, he would report the incident to Virginia police.

Sandwich police checked the records of police departments in Virginia to see if the stories matched up, but found nothing.

There are no suspects.
