An East Sandwich contractor is facing charges after police said that he kicked a subcontractor on the job then hit him with a bat.

Police were called at 11:30 AM to a construction site on Richards Way on Tuesday, March 10, for a reported altercation.

According to police, the assault happened during an argument between contractor Sean J. DiCataldo, 52, and a subcontractor on the job.   

According to the police report, the argument was over payment the subcontractor believed he was owed.

During the argument, police said that Mr. DiCataldo kicked the subcontractor and struck him with a bat-like object. 

Mr. DiCataldo said he kicked and hit the man in self-defense.

The employee was taken to Cape Cod Hospital for treatment.

Mr. DiCataldo was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon as a result of the incident.
