Two cars traveling in opposite directions along a snowy Spring Hill Road were forced to swerve off the narrow road to avoid a head-on collision.
Police responded to the scene at 3:32 PM last Friday, February 12.
According to police, Gregory Lannigan, 42, of Sandwich was driving along Spring Hill Road in his 2021 GMC truck when he came upon an oncoming 2011 Jeep driven by 18-year-old Daniel Fenton of Sandwich.
Both drivers stated that the already narrow roadway was made even narrower by the recently plowed snow, forcing both to swerve off the road to avoid a head-on crash. In doing so, Mr. Lannigan’s truck struck a mailbox.
No one was hurt and no tow trucks were needed. Police said the roadway had not been plowed wide enough, causing the crash, so no citations were issued.
