Sandwich police are investigating a string of car break-ins along Salt Marsh Road that happened Wednesday morning, July 17.
At least five vehicles were reported as having been broken into.
Police were called to to a Salt Marsh Road residence at 7:40 AM when a man renting a property on the street reported that his unlocked car had been broken into sometime overnight. A beach bag had been removed from the car and discarded in the driveway, but nothing was reported as missing.
While canvassing the area, police found another unlocked vehicle that had an open glove box. Police spoke with the owner of the vehicle, who said that nothing had been stolen.
A short time later, dispatch reported getting a call from another man on Salt Marsh Road who said that three of his unlocked cars had been entered. Nothing was stolen from those vehicles, either.
Shortly thereafter, a woman who lives on Salt Marsh Road reported that her unlocked vehicle had been broken into and that her iPhone had been taken.
Police said that there are currently no suspects and they advise residents and visitors to keep their vehicles locked.
