A Sandwich man is facing a drunk driving charge after a traffic stop on Route 130 last Friday, September 13.
According to police, an officer driving along Route 130 at 11:30 PM saw a vehicle turn at a stop sign onto Route 130 without stopping and then proceed through a red traffic signal at Jan Sebastian Drive. The officer conducted the stop near the Shawme Fish and Game Club.
When the officer approached the car, the driver already had his license ready. He was identified as Douglas W. Allen, 61, of Sandwich.
The officer reported seeing a container of Chinese food open in the center console of the car. They also noted that Mr. Allen's eyes were bloodshot and glassy and his speech was slurred.
He was given a series of field sobriety tests, which police said he failed.
Mr. Allen was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor, operating to endanger, and failure to stop for a traffic signal.
