A Sandwich man is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop on Route 6A on Sunday, June 28.

Police said the vehicle was stopped at 10:44 PM after an officer saw it traveling at a high rate of speed. The driver was identified at Clay H. DiPietro, 25, of Sandwich.

Mr. DiPietro was found to have a suspended license, and the officer made observations that led them to believe that he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the stop. Further investigation resulted in the discovery of heroin and ketamine in the vehicle, police said.

As a result of the stop, Mr. DiPietro was arrested and charged with possession of a Class A drug, possession of a Class E drug, operating under the influence of drugs, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
