Town Clerk Taylor White swears in Sergeant Michael Leslie on April 15.

The Sandwich Police Department recently celebrated the promotion of one of its police officers to the rank of sergeant.

Michael Leslie, who has been with the department since 2014, became a sergeant on April 15.

Sgt. Leslie has had multiple roles within the department, including becoming the Field Training Officer in 2017. He also completed training in 2018 to become a Crash Reconstructionist.

He holds an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice and is currently working toward earning his bachelor’s degree.

Prior to joining the police department, Sgt. Leslie served in the Massachusetts National Guard. He retired as a Staff Sergeant after 22 years of service.

Sgt. Leslie’s promotion was recognized at the police station where he was sworn in by Town Clerk Taylor White.
