A sleepy driver caused a three-car crash on Farmersville Road on Saturday, August 31.

Police were called to the scene of the crash at 8:25 AM on Farmersville Road near Stowe Road. Upon arrival, police saw three cars with heavy damage off to the side of the road.

Police said that the crash occurred when Joshua Sawyer, 29, of Mashpee fell asleep while driving, sideswiped a car driven by Kenneth Lombard, 71, of North Falmouth, and struck a car driven by Ralph Tufts, 62, of Mashpee.

Mr. Sawyer told police that he had been coming off of a midnight work shift and fell asleep at the wheel. He said that he did not wake up until the crash happened.

No one involved in the crash needed to be hospitalized and no one was cited.
