Two Forestdale teenagers were uninjured after a joyride ended in a car crash on Great Hill Road on Sunday, July 14.
Police were called to the scene of the crash at 12:25 PM.
When police arrived, they found the owner of the vehicle with his 15-year-old grandson. The teen admitted that he had taken the Dodge Ram for a drive with another teenager and had not told his grandfather that he was doing so.
According to the police report, the teen said that he had driven along Great Hill Road toward Service Road and tried to turn around when he got to the intersection, but was unable to. While stopped, the two teenagers swapped seats and the other one tried to back the vehicle up and turn around, but the vehicle went off the road and started to roll backwards into a gully.
One of the teens jumped out of the car as it was rolling and the other climbed into the driver’s seat to try to stop the truck, but it crashed into bushes and trees before coming to a stop, according to the report. Most of the damage was concentrated around the door that was still open from the teenagers jumping out of the car.
Neither teen was injured and the vehicle did not need to be towed. The teens received warnings for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
