Two teenagers are facing assault and battery charges after police say that they attacked another teenager at Oak Crest Cove on Sunday, March 15.
At 4:09 PM, someone walked into the police station to report that a 14-year-old boy had been seriously injured in a fight that occurred around 1 PM at Oak Crest Cove on Quaker Meetinghouse Road. The boy had facial injuries, including a broken nose and facial bruising.
An investigation found that about a dozen teenagers had been playing basketball at the park when two 16-year-old boys started following the younger boy around the court, ultimately getting into an argument, at which point punches were thrown. The younger boy ended up on the ground and the two older boys continued to punch and kick him while other teenagers tried to break up the fight.
Police said that the boys have had issues in the past regarding a girl.
A video from the Oak Crest Cove surveillance camera was reviewed, which will result in a 16-year-old Forestdale boy and a 16-year-old Yarmouth boy being summoned to court for a charge each of assault and battery with serious bodily injury.
Police said that the younger boy is expected to recover from his injuries.
