Two men from Barnstable are facing drug charges after being stopped on Farmersville Road for a marked lanes violation.

An officer in the area of Farmersville and Country Club roads stopped the vehicle at 5:06 PM last Thursday, January 28, for the violation. The operator was identified as Gregory R. Cook, 58, of Centerville.

A passenger in the car was identified as James J. O’Toole, 49, of Hyannis.

Police said Mr. Cook appeared to be lethargic and confused, and noted that a strong odor of marijuana was emanating from the vehicle.

While speaking with the men, police noticed a plastic bag that was stuffed between the passenger seat and the center console. The contents of the bag were determined to be heroin.

As a result of the traffic stop, both men were arrested and charged with possession of a Class A drug.
