A Bourne woman is facing drug charges following a traffic stop on Old County Road in East Sandwich on Tuesday, July 14.

Police said that an officer in the area of Route 6A and Old County Road at 9:46 PM saw a vehicle on the side of the road. When they turned their cruiser around to investigate, the officer saw the vehicle pull onto the roadway without signaling.

The officer ran the registration of the vehicle and found that the owner did not have a valid license. The vehicle's inspection sticker was also expired.

The officer stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Carol T. Karnes, 45, of Bourne.

While speaking with the officer, Ms. Karnes said that she had fentanyl in her purse. Police said that there was also narcotics paraphernalia in her purse.

She was arrested and charged with possession of a Class A drug, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle without an inspection sticker, and failure to signal.
