A woman spotted falling asleep behind the wheel of her car at a Sandwich gas station Monday, September 2 was arrested on drug charges.
Police were called to the Speedway gas station on Route 130 at 10:45 AM for a report of a woman nodding off behind the wheel of her car. The woman was identified as Melissa A. Levesque, 31, of Sandwich.
When police arrived, they reported that Ms. Levesque became agitated. She was also pale, fidgety, and unfocused, police said.
While talking with Ms. Levesque, the officer noticed a plastic baggie sticking out of her shirt pocket, which police said she tried to stuff out of sight. The substance inside of the baggie was a white, powdery substance that police said is consistent with heroin.
An additional pill, identified as clonazepam, was also found in her possession. Additionally, Ms. Levesque was found to have an active warrant out of Attleboro District Court for possession of a Class B drug.
Ms. Levesque was arrested and charged with possession of a Class A drug, possession of a Class C drug, and the warrant charge.
