A head-on collision at the intersection of Old County Road and Route 6A on Wednesday, November 10, at around 6 PM resulted in several minor injuries, with one transport to South Shore Hospital.
Police said the crash occurred near the East Sandwich Post Office when Kevin Burr, 28, of Sandwich attempted to pull his vehicle out of Old County Road onto Route 6A and it was struck head-on by a vehicle driven by Mason Woodbury, 18, of Sandwich.
Mr. Woodbury had three passengers in his car who sustained injuries. Veronica Anderson, 17, of Falmouth, who was sitting in the back seat of Mr. Woodbury’s vehicle when the crash occurred, was transported by the Sandwich Fire Department to South Shore Hospital. The other passengers refused treatment.
Mr. Burr was cited for failing to yield. Both vehicles were towed from the scene, and both drivers were uninjured.
On September 16, another serious car crash occurred at the same location when a driver similarly pulled out of Old County Road and collided head-on with a Sandwich woman, who sustained a serious open fracture to her left leg. She was also transported to South Shore Hospital for treatment.
Residents are suggesting that trees be removed at the intersection to provide better visibility and a traffic or signal light be installed to encourage safer driving.
