Andrea Avery Donovan, 70, of Sandwich died July 12.

She was the wife of John J. Donovan for 29 years.

After attending Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School, Ms. Donovan graduated from Endicott College in 1969, earning a degree in hotel and restaurant management. Subsequently, she worked for Friendly’s Ice Cream, training employees at new locations around the country. Later, she operated a canteen truck business, serving homemade lunches across the Mid-Cape.

Over the years, she also had worked at Cape restaurants including The Pancake Man, D’Olimpio’s, and Aqua Grille.

When she wasn’t working, Ms. Donovan enjoyed baking cakes for birthdays and weddings, knitting sweaters for people close to her, caring for her grandchildren, and hosting family holidays at her home.

During the warmer months, she loved boating, going for long walks, and exploring the country with her husband and their three dogs in their RV.

In addition to her husband, she leaves two sons, Matthew F. Grady and John R. Grady; two grandchildren, Emma Grady and Cooper Grady; and two nephews, Rodney Avery and Robert Avery III.

She was predeceased by her parents, Robert G. and Annette E. Avery; and her brother, Robert G. Avery Jr.

A celebration of her life will be planned in the near future.
