Arthur Francis Dockrey of Sandwich died at Cape Cod Hospital on July 28. He was 87.

Born in Dorchester, he was the husband of Jean C. (Shilcock) Dockrey for 63 years.

He was a staff engineer for MIT-Lincoln Laboratory for 40 years, retiring in 1994.

Mr. Dockrey graduated from Brockton High School, Class of 1950, and Northeastern University and joined the Air Force shortly thereafter. He was discharged from the Air Force in 1954, and it was then that he became employed at MIT-Lincoln. He lived in Brockton for many years and was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Brockton.

He loved to sail on his sailboat, Affinity.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Dockrey leaves his son, Paul G. Dockrey and his wife, Brigitte Dockrey, of Lakeville and his daughter, Kathryn Stevens and her husband, Dale Stevens, of Wellfleet. He is the brother of Thomas E. Dockrey of Hull, Julia Averill of Bristol, Rhode Island, Mary Telles of Salem, Oregon, John Dockrey of Chatham; he also leaves six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and other family.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Rose McKenzie, Leonard Dockrey and Dorothy Brophy.
