Barbara J. Hosmer, 90, of Cotuit died December 24. She leaves family in Sandwich.

She was the wife of Merrill J. Hosmer. The couple was to have celebrated their 70th anniversary on March 1.

Ms. Hosmer had once worked as an executive secretary for the Central Intelligence Agency. She and her husband lived for most of their married years in Wellesley, spending summers on Cape Cod.

A full-time mother to her three children, she also dedicated time to her church and community. She and her husband loved to travel and took many trips to Europe.

After eventually retiring to Cotuit, Ms. Hosmer enjoyed the Cape Symphony, performances at the Cotuit Center for the Arts and being a docent at the Historical Society of Cotuit and Santuit and the Cahoon Museum of American Art. She also spent time gardening, knitting and doing cross-stitch.

Besides her husband, she leaves three children, Peter Merrill Hosmer of Upton, Martha Hosmer Densberger of Sandwich, and Susan Hosmer Collins of Salem, New Hampshire; four grandchildren; and extended family.

A memorial service will be at a future date.
