Word has been received that Barbara P. Morgan of Sandwich and Carlsbad, California, died April 21. She was 78.

She was the widow of Robert Morgan, who died in 2014.

Born in New York City, she was the daughter of Elsie and Alfred Porr.

She met Robert L. Morgan in college and they married shortly after graduating. They moved to England for his Air Force service and then to Westfield, New Jersey, where they raised their two children, Scott and Carrie.

Ms. Morgan taught business skills to women in Newark, New Jersey and at Katharine Gibbs in Elizabeth, New Jersey, before returning to graduate school for her MBA. After graduating in 1980 she accepted a position with Merrill Lynch on Wall Street in New Yok. She joined the Summit Trust Company in 1985 and became a vice president in 1987. She was a member of the Executive Women of New Jersey, and an associate member of the New York Society of Security Analysts. She was also an owner of Semper Paper Co. in New York.

In 2000, the Morgans retired and moved to Cape Cod. There they spent some of the best times of their lives delighting in deep friendships (old and new), many laughs, their children and grandchildren, and each other’s company. Barbara was an avid reader, a master gardener, a volunteer for several charities and organizations, and enjoyed travels with her dear sister and close friends.

After her husband’s death, Ms. Morgan began splitting her time between her Cape home, and Carlsbad, California. She had a stroke in January 2017 and declined in health but not in spirit or faith. She died on Easter Sunday 2019.

She leaves her sister, Janet Coulman of North Carolina; her son, Scott Morgan, and his wife, Melissa Morgan, and their three daughters; her daughter, Carrie Morgan Wood, and her husband, Brian Wood, and their two children; and other family.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 6, at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 3055 Main Street in Barnstable.
