Catherine Morin of East Sandwich died October 5. She was 93.
Ms. Morin was born May 30, 1927, to Richard W. and Catherine L. (O’Connor) Sheehan of West Quincy. She graduated from Quincy High School and in 1948 married her high school sweetheart, Frederick E. Morin. They resided in South Weymouth until 1989 when they retired to East Sandwich to the home they built themselves (with a little weekend help from their children and friends) in 1972.
While living in South Weymouth, Ms. Morin volunteered for 25 years as the school librarian at St. Francis Xavier Elementary School. After retiring to East Sandwich she volunteered for more than 20 years as membership chairwoman for her neighborhood association. Ms. Morin loved to read, a trait she passed on to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her two children, Frederick R. Morin (Lorraine Madden) of Florida and Cathy Morin Gallagher of East Sandwich. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Christine McQuarrie and her husband, Adam of Whitman, Daniel Morin of Tennessee and Lieutenant Christopher Gallagher of Groton.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions there will be no visiting hours. A funeral Mass was held at Corpus Christi Parish in East Sandwich yesterday. Burial was private.
