George J. Del Negro of Sandwich died at home on September 27, following a struggle with cancer. Mr. Del Negro, who was known as Geo, was 76.

He was the husband of Katherine J. Del Negro, to whom he was married for 55 years.

The son of George and Blanche Del Negro, he was born, raised and educated in Worcester.

Mr. Del Negro was a member of the Iron Workers Local 57 in Worcester.

He and his wife moved to Sandwich in 2006. They enjoyed winters together in Florida, where Mr. Del Negro spent some of his time playing pool.  

He found satisfaction in mentoring people, and was known for his ability to tell a good story.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his three sons, Brian Del Negro and his wife, Mary Del Negro, Joseph Del Negro, and his wife, Victoria Del Negro, Nicholas Del Negro and his wife, Erica Del Negro; a daughter, Justine Del Negro; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Visiting hours will be Saturday, October 2, beginning at 11 AM with a service at 1 o'clock, at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A in Sandwich.

Burial will be private.
