Gordon T. Grimes, who leaves family in East Sandwich, died November 4 at his Marstons Mills home. He was 70.

He was born in Hartford, Connecticut, and raised in Middlebury, the son of Charles Gordon and Elizabeth Dudley Hubbard Grimes.

He graduated from DeVeaux Preparatory School and then from Paul Smith’s College with a degree in hotel and restaurant management.

Mr. Grimes was known in the food industry, having spent the last 40 years working in sales for both US Foodservice and SYSCO. He was often referred to by his customers as “The Legend.”

With a love of being outdoors, in his free time he enjoyed going to the beach and maintaining his yard.

He leaves his wife of 46 years, Ann (Johnson) Grimes; his daughters, Sarah Astman of Sudbury and Lindsay Sullivan of East Sandwich; a brother, Timothy Grimes of Hamden, Connecticut; two grandchildren; and other family.

He was predeceased by his brother Dudley Grimes.

A graveside service was Tuesday, November 10, at Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit.
