Henry B. Wojnar of East Sandwich, who was born in 1928, died June 7 at his home.

He was the husband of Mildred (Regan) Wojnar, to whom he was married for 60 years.

Born and raised in Lawrence, he was the son of Frank and Kathryn (Gonet) Wojnar.

After graduating from Central Catholic High School in 1945, Mr. Wojnar attended Boston College, graduating in 1949 with a degree in chemistry—and a lifelong passion for BC football. He later earned a master’s degree from the University of New Hampshire.

He served in the US Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War.

Following his military service, Mr. Wojnar went on to a career in education. He taught science at Mass Bay Community College in Wellesley for many years before retiring in 1990.

He moved with his wife from Wellesley to the Cape to spend his retirement years.

In addition to his wife, he leaves four children, Elizabeth Fernald, Mark Wojnar, Marianne Rocco and her husband, Joseph Rocco, and Carolyn Wojnar; seven grandchildren; a sister, Ann Folzenlogen; and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be on Thursday, June 13, beginning at 10:30 AM at the P.E. Murray-F.J. Higgins, George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home at 2000 Centre Street in West Roxbury, followed at 11:30 by a Mass that will be said at St. Theresa Church, 2078 Centre Street in West Roxbury.

Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
