Nicholas P. Christiani of Sandwich, who had a career in the Cape Cod contracting community, died May 24. He was 66.
Mr. Christiani moved to Sandwich from Quincy in 1985.
He worked alongside his father, a general contractor, developing Rof-Mar Estates on Lawrence Pond. In addition, he started an environmental contracting business with close friends. He was a 45-year member of Operating Engineers, Local 4.
With a love of the outdoors, Mr. Christiani spent many summer days on the shores of Lawrence Pond listening to the Boston Red Sox. He often took early morning walks along the Cape Cod Canal for several miles. He loved to cook and to experiment with his smoker grill and rotisserie, and every Fourth of July he hosted a clambake at his home. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Mr. Christiani was known for being generous with his time and skills to donate to those in need.
He was a member of Corpus Christi Church in East Sandwich.
He leaves his mother, Mary Christiani; a brother and sister; three sons, Nicholas Christiani, Matthew Christiani and Daniel Christiani, and their mother; and other family.
He was recently predeceased by his father, Frank Christiani.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, June 1, at Corpus Christi Church.
Burial was at Sandwich Town Cemetery.
