Patrycia T. Lukac, 71, of Centerville died at home on July 7. She leaves family in Sandwich.
She was the wife of 38 years to Ted Lukac.
Ms. Lukac was a graduate of Brockton High School and earned a degree in communications from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
An accomplished writer, she had published three novels throughout her career: “The Liar’s Diary,” “The Orphans of Race Point” and, most recently, “All the Children are Home.”
She had been inducted into the Poetry Society of America and won the Massachusetts Cultural Award for Poetry and Fiction.
In her free time Ms. Lukac volunteered at the local prison for the recreation department; helped the homeless for Saint Joseph’s House and Street Reach; and taught free meditation classes to community members through her church.
She had a love of nature and documented her exploration of Cape Cod with photographs. She also enjoyed listening to music or reading a good book on her porch.
In addition to her husband, she leaves her children, Gabriel Francis of Warren, Rhode Island, Joshua Francis of East Freetown, Nellie Kelsch of Sandwich and Theodore J. Lukac of Centerville; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday, July 14, at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville.
Burial was at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Centerville.
