Peggy (Zimmer) Ehrman, 87, of East Sandwich died at Bridges of Epoch in Mashpee on February 9.

She was the wife of Leonard Ehrman, to whom she was married for 63 years.

The daughter of Jacob and Ruth Zimmer, she graduated from Asbury Park High School in New Jersey. She received her bachelor’s degree from Smith College in Northampton and a master’s in library science from Simmons College in Boston.

Ms. Ehrman worked as the librarian for Carlisle Public Schools for many years until her retirement, after which she started BiblioServices, a small research company.

She was a member of the American Association of University Women and the Smith Club of Massachusetts.

An avid sailor, she had the ability to steer a straight course through the thickest fog and fiercest currents. She also enjoyed reading.

In addition to her husband, she leaves a son, John Ehrman of Alexandria, Virginia; a sister, Judy Tantleff; two grandchildren; and extended family.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Zimmer.

A committal service was Wednesday, February 12, at Old Mount Carmel Cemetery in Glendale, New York.
