Raymond James Walsh of East Sandwich died June 26 at Cape Heritage Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Sandwich. He was 86.

He was the former husband of Renee (Simard) Walsh and the late Martha Joan (Sanborn) Walsh.

Born in Dorchester, he was a son of Raymond J. and Mildred M. (Kinch) Walsh.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Mr. Walsh had worked as a senior construction inspector for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Highway Division for many years.

He leaves two daughters, Paula Connolly of Sandwich and Stephanie Walsh of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; seven sons, John Walsh of Bellingham, Raymond Walsh of Sandwich, Christopher Walsh of Phoenix, Arizona, Mark Walsh of New York City, David Walsh of Saugus, Patrick Walsh of Beverly and Eric Walsh of Norwood; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and other family.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister, S. George Walsh and Mary Ortolano.

A memorial service was Tuesday, July 2, at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home in Sandwich, with interment at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. A reception followed.
