Richard Roy Hardaker, 85, of Forestdale died at home on January 11.

He was born in River Dechute, New Brunswick, Canada.

Mr. Hardaker had a 20-year career in the US Army, and he later worked for Digital Corporation for 15 years. He then worked part time for SPAGS for five years until his retirement on Cape Cod.

An avid racquetball player, he also enjoyed cribbage and dominoes, as well as studying and reading the Bible. He was a longtime member of First Church of Christ in Sandwich.

He leaves his wife, Heidi M. Hardaker; a daughter, Nicole Hardaker-Smith of Townsend; three grandchildren, Kayleigh Kowal of Lithia, Florida, and Kane Hardaker and Alexandra Hardaker, both of New Braintree; a great-grandson, Kayden Kowal; a half-sister, Donna Pryor of New Brunswick; and extended family.

He was predeceased by his son, Ricky Hardaker.

A celebration of his life will be planned at a later date.
